Download E-Record

Posted by kilbot | Filed under: Downloads

Since July 2010, the Australian Tax Office withdrew support for E-Record – their free electronic record-keeping system. For small businesses (like mine) this is a disappointment, while E-Record was very simple it provided all the functionality necessary without the steep learning curve of other software.

The ATO website no longer includes links for the E-Record software which means that many of us have been left without software to access our old records. For convenience I have included download links for both the Windows and Mac software below. If anyone has advice on the best replacement for E-Record we’d love to hear them in the comments!

Download e-Record Version 6.2 Win32 – 16.1 MB

Download e-Record Version 6.2 Mac – 13.2 MB

Please Note: These files will be available here for as long as people still need them They will always be free, however, if you download the files please consider ‘liking’ us on Facebook – we would really appreciate it and it costs nothing! The files are provided ‘as is’, I provide no support for the software and you agree to use at your own risk!

AtMail is now available for webmail

Posted by kilbot | Filed under: Hosting News, News

Webmail users now have another option for reading and sending emails. We recently added AtMail Open Source to both the Australian and US servers. Use the login form on our homepage and take it for a test run!

Compose AtMail

This means you now have a choice of four (4!) webmail clients; AtMail, Horde, Roundcube and SquirrelMail.

Speaking of Roundcube (my personal favourite) … this has recently been updated to version 0.6. The latest release includes an improved Address Book, better file uploading for attachments and many other stability and UI improvements.

What’s your favourite webmail client? Let us know in the comments!

New Kilbot logo

We’re moving towards a new design and exciting new features for kilbot.com.au, finally! I hear you say … and quite rightly, this website has not presented the true range of our services from some time.

As we head towards the launch of our redesign I will be releasing sneak peaks and progress reports. So, without further ado, I am super excited to introduce the new spokesbot for all things Kilbot! Designed by the very talented Alex Kohler.

What do you think of the little guy? We’d love to hear your feedback in the comments!

How to get to number 1 in Google

Posted by kilbot | Filed under: Frequently Asked Questions, News, Web Development FAQ

Firstly, let me make it clear; anyone that guarantees you number 1 position on Google, Yahoo or Bing is either lying or delusional, you should turn and run from such “SEO Consultants”, “Link Building Experts” or “Social Media Gurus” as quickly as possible (OK, social media gurus don’t have much to do with search engine ranking but you should run from them nonetheless). There are no quick fixes for increasing your page ranking and no guarantees you will reach number 1.
